Establishing a Community Renewable Energy (CORE) Association for the Greater Mekong

Client: Oxfam Cambodia

Implementing partner: Community Power Agency (CPA)

The rise of renewable energy technology has unlocked the potential for modular, distributed electricity systems in the weak grid and off-grid villages of the Greater Mekong. As has been the experience in other regions, empowering communities to own and manage their own electricity services can have a transformational impact on community-led development and prosperity.

AMPERES has been supporting Oxfam Greater Mekong Regional program to:

(1) Scope the study to understand the opportunity and scope of institutional support needed to promote community energy in the Mekong;

(2) Conduct feasibility study and design of a support facility to promote and advance community owned and managed renewable energy in Cambodia.
