Last week, a DFAT*-led delegation had a 6-day visit to the Mekong Delta to promote Australia – Viet Nam cooperation in climate change adaptation.
During the visit, the BPP (Business Partnership Platform) project’s team had a number of fruitful discussions with local partners in the region. This is the opportunity for the BPP team to assess key climate challenges facing the agriculture sector in the Mekong Delta, as well as identify how the agriculture sector in the Mekong Delta can adapt to changes in the local environment resulting from climate change.
The BPP team exploring locally innovative models to adapt to climate change
Mr. Phil Harman, team leader of the BPP’s project on climate change adaptation round, hoped that there would be more business models that not only help the local people adapt to climate change but also increase their income and promote gender equality and social inclusion.
BPP is a flagship private sector engagement program of the Australian Government, which supports partnerships between the Australian Government and inclusive and sustainable businesses to create lasting social and environmental impact. The BPP’s Climate Adaptation Partnerships in the Mekong Delta will offer from AUD250,000 to AUD750,000 in funding for these businesses and their partners to trial and scale up innovative models that foster climate adaptation in the region.
The program aims to support the implementation of the Mekong Delta’s Masterplan approved by Vietnam’s Prime Minister HE Pham Minh Chinh in 2022.
AMPERES is proud to assist the BPP project for enhancing the resilience of private setor in Mekong Delta.
