CORE-KIT – Community Renewable Energy Knowledge Integration Tool

With 70% of Myanmar’s population lacking electricity access, the government secured a $300 million World Bank loan to achieve universal electrification by 2030. A key focus is deploying renewable energy mini-grids for remote villages.

CORE-KIT

To date, 70% of the Myanmar population does not have access to electricity, the Government has taken out a USD 300 million loan from the World Bank to implement an electrification program that will achieve universal access by 2030. Part of this program involved deployment of distributed renewable energy mini grids to accelerate, reliable electricity access to remote rural villages.

Alluvium (through AMPERES), in partnership with Aalto University and the Renewable Energy Association of Myanmar (REAM), mapped mini-grid potential nationwide and supporting the pre-feasibility assessment of proposals submitted to the Department of Rural Development (DRD). This ensured effective planning and implementation of sustainable rural electrification, accelerating reliable electricity access across the country.
